June 2022 marked the 25th anniversary of the founding of Early Foundations Publishers (EFP). Our readers may find a brief history of EFP interesting, so we asked two of the original board members, Mr. Thomas Stryd and Mr. Marinus VanBrugge, to share their memories.
One beautiful June morning Pierre Cavier had a rare opportunity. He had expected he’d have to go to the vineyard again to tie up the vines. It was the time of the year for doing that, and he had been helping his father for days already. Dad said that this was just the job for Pierre. With his thin, nimble twelve-year-old fingers, he could hold the vines much better than his father, Jean, whose fingers had become stiff from years of hard work.
Just outside of Bethlehem, there were shepherds caring for their sheep in the fields at night. Suddenly they were startled by an angel standing in a bright light. The angel called out to them in a friendly voice, “Don’t be afraid, shepherds, I am here to bring joyful tidings. The Lord Jesus, the Savior, has been born. You will find Him wrapped in cloth and lying in a manger.”
1) What inspired you to write Shelter from the Storm?
My favourite part of teaching was telling stories to the students. Writing a book for children had been on my mind for a while. When a tornado hit Norwich, the idea for this little book was born.
Truth as a theme is a very comprehensive subject, because there are many truths in the lie-filled world we live in today. Let us remember that in every circumstance we deal with, there is always a truth. Sometimes there is a truth behind a truth. Or even a truth in a lie. Sometimes a truth and a lie are hardly distinguishable. Sometimes a liar speaks a truth, and he who is known to speak the truth may speak a lie. Nearly endless seems the meditation about the word truth.
